Peter is originally from North Yorkshire, England, where he completed a 5 year furniture making apprenticeship over 20 years ago. He was trained by an ‘old school’ furniture maker using traditional joinery techniques that have been tried and tested for thousands of years, and handed down through generations of master craftsmen. Peter is now honoured to be able to offer those skills as his standard practice here in Australia.
The furniture is handcrafted in his studio workshop in Perth, Western Australia, with meticulous attention to detail and the utmost of care. Although Peter has developed a passion for local timbers, he does not limit himself to these and works comfortably with a range of international hardwoods. With hardware sourced from around the world to complement his furniture, there is absolutely no compromise on quality.
Aesthetically pleasing and functional, Peter’s furniture is designed and built using traditional mortise and tenon, dovetail, and housing joints in all of the structural joints; thereby forming the integral strength and longevity of his furniture. As well as creating highly durable pieces, Peter is able to achieve looks that are not possible using machinery alone, such as intricate joint details and edges shaped with hand tools. Peter offers a truly bespoke service to his clients, for residential and small commercial projects.
Peter takes pride in the fact that he is a genuine craftsman, committed to staying true to the traditions he was taught in creating beautiful handcrafted furniture that lasts for generations.
